FAQ

  • What is Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy provides treatment for general body aches and pains which occur as a result of disorders in the muscle and skeletal systems. Physiotherapy identifies the source of your problem and treats it via a variety of methods, such as mobilisation and manipulation, muscle strengthening or retraining, electrotherapy, massage, retraining of work or sports specific tasks, homes exercises and much more. All Therapists at MTM Physiotherapy Subiaco are registered with AHRPA and are members of the Australian Physiotherapy Assoication.
  • Do I need a referral?
No. There is no need for a doctor’s referral UNLESS you are attending under a worker’s compensation or motor vehicle insurance claim or you are claiming physiotherapy services under a MediCare Chronic Disease Management Plan.

  • Do you accept NDIS patients?
Yes. Our Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist has applied for approval to work with people with disability in a risk assessed role for a registered NDIS provider. This means your Support Coordinator can access our expertise to help you: - complete daily living activities and work towards your goals to meet your objectives - help you build your independence and skills
  • What happens if a 3rd party is paying for my treatment?
We accept payment from Workcover, Veterans Affairs and Medicare. For each of these you need to have a doctor’s referral and any paperwork associated with your claim. Medicare only covers those with complex conditions or chronic conditions who are on a primary care plan with their doctor.
  • When do I pay?
Payment is required at the time of consultation. We provide direct processing of your private health claim on the spot via HICAPS. This means you only pay the gap amount for your treatment, and the health fund pays the remainder directly to us. EFTPOS facilities are available.
  • What if I am running late?
Please note that if you are more than 10 minutes late for your appointment you may not be able to be seen. This is so other clients who are on time will not be kept waiting. Please call the clinic if you are running late so you can be advised whether treatment will be possible.
  • How do I cancel my appointment?
We require 8 hours notice if you cancel an appointment, otherwise a cancellation fee may apply. Your consideration with this also helps us to plan our staffing levels and avoid turning other clients away.
  • What do I wear and bring?
You need to wear loose comfortable clothing. Your physiotherapist will need to look at the injured area so it is important for you to wear clothes that allow access to that body part. Your physiotherapist will use towels to cover you so at all times you are feel comfortable. Please bring any relevant scans or medical reports with you.
  • What happens at my initial appointment
Please arrive a few minutes early for your initial appointment. Your first treatment includes an extended examination, treatment, and discussion with you about your condition and ongoing treatment required. The initial appointment takes 30 minutes. Included in the first appointment will be a diagnosis and treatment. During the follow up appointments your physiotherapist will spend 30 minutes one to one with you during your treatment.
