Michael Wood B App Sc Physio, Grad Dip Sports Physio, Master of Applied Clinical Epidemiology (MACE)

Michael Wood is a Sports Physiotherapist who has worked with some of Australia's most elite individual athletes and teams.  His success has included Olympic Games, Commonwealth Games, Hockey World Cups and Olympic Games. He has worked in private practice for over 30 years treating numerous conditions for general patients throughout his tenure as a clinician.

Michael Wood is a registered and APA Titled Sports and Exercise Physiotherapist currently working as the Lead Sports Physiotherapist with the Australian Mens and Womens hockey high performance programs.  

 

This includes work and liaison across the AIS, WAIS, Hockey Australia, leading Western Australian sports medicine physicians, surgeons, allied health providers, coaching and support staff.  
 
Additionally, Michael Wood mentors other physiotherapists including the assessment of Post Graduate Sports Physiotherapy students.  

 

Michael is renowned for his highly developed, innovative and “cutting edge” rehabilitation and treatment techniques for injured players to return to their sport quickly and maintain a playing fitness.

 

He was awarded with an Australian Sports Medal in honour of services to sport in 2000. Michael recently completed his Master of Applied Clinical Epidemiology (MACE), in collaboration with the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) taking the lead in enhancing the performance of athletes and high-performance personnel.

Sonja Belle B Sc OT, Grad Dip HRM

Sonja Belle is a registered Occupational Therapist with a post graduate degree in Human Resources, working since 1998 in corporate medicine. 
 
Sonja's speciality is in injury management, working for over 20 years in the Western Australian Workers Compensation and Injury Management system.  Here she started as a new graduate working through to senior management for three top tier private workplace rehabilitation providers (Active Injury Management, The ORS Group and WorkFocus Australia) before gaining accreditation with WorkCover WA to open her own workplace rehabilitation agency, Occupational Fitness Solutions in 2004.

 

Work within this sector has led to opportunities to work in preventative medicine including ergonomics, risk assessment, designing and conducting pre-employment and periodic medical testing, developing duties manuals, facilitating training in manual handling and various OSH topics, developing and conducting health assessments as well as wellness services such as warm up for work programs, dietetic services, EAP and psychological health.

Sonja is a Co-Director of MTM Physiotherapy Subiaco.
